20x20 oil on stretched cotton canvas
My last visit to my parents house I packed a big box of some of my Mom's collectibles. In my head I could see a series of paintings using a square format and this 1940ish? green with a soft accent of red. This is the first one. I set up another still life today ready for the next one.
I am excited to say I have some of my paintings hanging at the Magnolia Cafe on S. Congress in Austin. I hung the small 8x8 Austin landmarks and a few more larger ones of the Austin area.

I love it when the ordinary gets elevated into art. Very well done.
And congrats on hanging in the cafe. One of my earliest sales was made on the wall of a cafe.
Thank you A.Decker, that is exactly why I painted this one and why I am working on another.
These objects have a lovely feel to them...homely, caring and something more than just objects. I love the muted colours which add to the soft, welcoming mood. I'm delighted to have found your blog and hope to see more paintings of your mother's things.
Hi Kim, Haven't visited your blog in ages (or anyone else' either) so it is nice to see your new work! I love the composition in this one and suspect the very personal connection to the items is coming through in the painting! Best wishes, Jennifer
Interesantes pinturas. Mis felicitaciones.
